Signature Moments

1973 MVP — The Undersized Center

1972-1973 Season·vs vs Entire NBA

At 6'9", Cowens won MVP and led the Celtics to the best record in basketball. He outfought centers 4-5 inches taller through sheer hustle and intensity. He'd dive on the floor, sprint the full court, and crash the boards with reckless abandon.

Six-nine and he dominated centers who towered over him. Cowens proved that effort and toughness could overcome size.
