Signature Moments
The Worm — 7 Consecutive Rebounding Titles
Rodman led the NBA in rebounding for seven consecutive seasons. At 6'7", he outrebounded centers who were 6 inches taller. He studied the spin of every shot off the rim, tracking the ball's trajectory like a physicist. He turned rebounding into a science.
Seven straight rebounding titles at 6'7". He wasn't taller or stronger — he was smarter. He knew where the ball was going before it left the shooter's hand.
72-10 Bulls — The Missing Piece
Rodman joined Jordan and Pippen in 1995 and the Bulls went 72-10 — the best record in NBA history at the time. Rodman averaged 14.9 rebounds and brought the toughness that turned a great team into the greatest team. He was the final piece of the puzzle.
Jordan and Pippen couldn't get past the Rockets and Magic without Rodman. He arrived and they broke every record.
The Hair, The Wedding Dress, The Worm
Rodman showed up to book signings in a wedding dress. He dyed his hair a different color every week. He dated Madonna and hung out with Kim Jong-un. He was the first NBA player who was as famous for his personality as his game — the original basketball provocateur.
Before social media, before personal brands, Rodman was the most famous person in the room and he wasn't even the best player on his team. He transcended basketball.
