70 Points — The Spurs Explosion
Embiid scored 70 points against the Spurs — the most by any 76er in history and the most by any center since 1978. He shot 24-for-41 with 18 rebounds. The big man from Cameroon who started playing basketball at 15 put up a Wilt-like number.
Seventy points. For a 7-footer. He didn't start playing basketball until he was 15. That makes this even more absurd.
2023 MVP — Trust the Process
Embiid won his first MVP, averaging 33.1/10.2/4.2. He'd been through "The Process" — years of tanking, injuries, and waiting. He started playing basketball at 15 in Cameroon, sat out his first two NBA seasons with foot injuries, and then became the most dominant center in the sport.
