The Story
The Undisputed King
Lewis became the undisputed heavyweight champion — a feat that eluded Tyson, Holyfield, and every other heavyweight of his era. His knockout of Vitali Klitschko and his brutal second-round destruction of Mike Tyson cemented him as the best heavyweight of the 1990s and early 2000s.
The Complete Heavyweight
At 6'5" with technical skill, power, and a jab that kept opponents at bay, Lewis was the prototype for the modern heavyweight. He avenged every loss on his record — the only heavyweight champion to do so. His legacy has only grown with time.
Signature Moments
KO of Mike Tyson — End of an Era
Lewis knocked out the aging Tyson in the 8th round, ending the fight and effectively ending Tyson's career. Lewis was 36, methodical, and dominant. He jabbed Tyson into submission and then put him away. The last great heavyweight destroyed the most famous one.
He ended Mike Tyson. Methodically, professionally, definitively. Lewis proved that skill beats mystique.
Undisputed Heavyweight Champion — The Last One
Lewis became the undisputed heavyweight champion by beating Holyfield in their rematch. He was the last undisputed heavyweight champion of the 20th century. At 6'5" with an elite jab and knockout power, Lewis was the most complete heavyweight of his generation.
The last undisputed heavyweight champion before the alphabet soup of belts ruined the division. Lewis unified everything.
Avenging Every Loss
Lewis lost twice in his career — both by surprise knockouts — and avenged both losses. He knocked out Oliver McCall (who quit crying in the ring) and devastated Rahman in the rematch. Lewis never let a loss define him.
He lost twice and beat both men in rematches. Lennox Lewis never accepted defeat. He corrected it.
