The Story

Defining Moments

Blessed Express

Holloway's 13-fight winning streak at featherweight included finishes of Aldo (twice), Pettis, and Ortega. His volume striking and iron chin created a style that was both beautiful and brutal. He would walk opponents down, absorb their best shots, and eventually overwhelm them with sheer output.

Character & Personality

It Is What It Is

Holloway's laid-back Hawaiian attitude and catchphrase "It is what it is" made him one of the most likable champions in UFC history. His genuine humility and love for the sport shine through every interview.

Signature Moments

BMF KO of Justin Gaethje

2024-04-13·vs Justin Gaethje

In the final seconds of a war, Holloway pointed at the center of the octagon, stood toe-to-toe with Gaethje, and knocked him cold with a right hand — the most theatrical KO in UFC history.

The walk-off KO that won him the BMF title and the internet.

The Blessed Era — 14-Fight Win Streak at 145

2014-2019·vs vs Featherweight Division

Holloway won 14 consecutive fights at featherweight, including two victories over José Aldo. He was the most entertaining fighter in the UFC — an output machine who threw more punches per round than any champion in history.

Fourteen straight wins. Two victories over the greatest featherweight ever. Holloway made 145 pounds his personal kingdom.

"I'm the Best Boxer in the UFC" — The Kattar Fight

January 16, 2021·vs vs Calvin Kattar

Holloway threw 746 total strikes — the most in UFC history — in a 5-round masterclass against Kattar. He literally pointed at the ground and told Kattar "I'm the best boxer in the UFC" mid-fight. He turned a sanctioned MMA bout into a one-man highlight reel.

He talked trash mid-fight while throwing a record number of strikes. Max Holloway turned a cage fight into a performance art piece.
